Sunday Breakfast Mission Brownfield Project Wins Award

This Brownfield redevelopment project showcases the effective partnership among a non-profit community services organization, state regulatory agencies, an environmental engineering/science firm and the construction delivery team. Duffield Associates was initially retained by the project’s construction manager to provide geotechnical services for the proposed Women and Children’s Annex construction.  While preparing to conduct field work, Duffield Associates learned that the site was environmentally impacted, and advised the project team that the resolution of environmental issues at the property would be a necessary prerequisite to construction.Read more

Eleutherian Mills Dam Project Wins Award

Duffield Associates was retained by Hagley Museum and Library in 2005 to perform a review of the existing Eleutherian Mills Dam on the Brandywine River at the location of the original DuPont Powder Works. The dam and adjacent millrace were built in 1803 by the DuPont family to harness the power of the Brandywine River for their use in gunpowder production. Hagley was interested in restoring the dam to its historical configuration. The dam was operational; however, it was in a deteriorated condition and the timber faced spillway was completely missing in some areas. Read more

Scranton Brownfields Assessment Project


The City of Scranton, PA received a $200,000 Brownfields Assessment Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfields Program.  The grant will provide funding to assist with identifying abandoned industrial properties for potential redevelopment.  Duffield Associates will be leading the Brownfields Assessment Project for the City of Scranton, Office of Community and Economic Development.  Read more

Parking lot improvements pave way to minimize stormwater runoff. Duffield Associates has been involved with the design and installation of porous pavements in the region for many years. Porous pavements are a class of surfaces that help to restore a more natural water cycle in urbanized areas by allowing stormwater to infiltrate into the underlying subgrade, rather than run off.

 
 

Jeffrey M. Bross, P.E., LEED AP, FACEC received the Samuel S. Baxter Memorial Award from the Water Resources Association of the Delaware River Basin for his "contributions, accomplishments, leadership and community service during an illustrious career as a professional consulting engineer to the standards exemplified by the former Philadelphia Water Commissioner, Samuel S. Baxter."

 
 

David J. Athey, P.E. has joined Duffield Associates as a Senior Project Manager. Mr. Athey has over 25 years experience in a broad range of civil engineering fields specializing in water resources and public works including stormwater conveyance design, stormwater quality and quantity management, hydrologic and hydraulic studies, and development of plans and specifications for infrastructure repair and replacement projects.

 

John G. Fellows, RLA, LEED AP has joined Duffield Associates as a Senior Project Manager. He brings more than 20 years of experience in sustainable landscape architecture, planning and civil design projects.His background includes ordinance and code compliance; creative funding and assisting with grant applications; and obtaining required project approval and permits.

William J. Mather, P.E, has joined Duffield Associates' Wilmington office as a Senior Project Manager. Mr. Mather has 20 years of experience in civil engineering projects including utility design, storm sewer and stormwater management projects, erosion and sediment control, permitting, construction management and project administration.
